STAR trial : In the preventive star trial, both tamoxifen and raloxifine (evista) were found to be effective in preventing breast cancer. Statistically, tamoxifen is more effective but also have more side effects. Evista (raloxifene) is only approved in post menopausal female while tamoxifen is approved in pre and post menopausal groups. Evista (raloxifene) is better if there is an osteopenia or osteoporosis present.
