Brief Pains: Sounds like a muscle pain. If you are young and have no medical problems and the pains only last a few seconds they probably are not dangerous. If you start to have shortness of breath, get drenched in sweat, have nausea or vomiting, get dizzy, or the pain remains constant for more than 20min you should probably see a doctor.

Stern also pain: Possibly...but you may be feeling pain in the sternum that is musculoskeletal and myofascial triggered by stretch of the pectoralis muscle by overhead reach maneuvers that abduct and externally rotate the pectoral girdle. By the way...do you strength train using fly maneuvers? As an NSCA certified strength trainer I find fly type exercises stretch the pectoralis muscle and trigger stern all pain.
