Possible, unlikely: This is possible but unlikely. However, if the sores started with blisters, herpes might be possible. Half the adult population in the US has oral herpes, including those without known cold sores. See a doctor ASAP for testing -- the sooner the better for accurate diagnosis. But don't worry much about it. Even if it's herpes, this probably won't be a big problem. Recurrent outbreaks are uncommon.
