37-40: This maximizes the time that the baby has to develop. Lungs are especially important in the last part of pregnancy and delivering too early risks immature lungs. Delivering too late has complication with the baby being too big to deliver normally. No pregnancy is completely safe from complications, but making it to 37 weeks is best.

None: Although complications from pregnancy can happen at any week gestation. A good rule would be that typically beyond 35 weeks most children if born would be unlikely to have breathing problems associated with premature birth.

No guarantees: About 4% of all deliveries at any gestation have an unexpected outcome & up to 10% may need brief specialized newborn care.About 50% born at 36 wks will develop respiratory problems of prematurity with declining need thereafter. The human womb is the best environment for a developing baby.If your pregnancy is complicated keep in close contact with the docs & delay delivery as long as possible
