One of the most: reliable and consistent symptoms of influenza, distinguishing it from the more common viral upper respiratory infection/"cold", is a fever. The other one is the muscle aches/myalgias. So if you have/have had a fever, especially if over 101 degrees, it may well be influenza. If it is influenza, which can be diagnosed at a doctor visit, anti-viral drugs may help if started within 2 days of symptoms

Either: Both can cause similar symptoms but given the time of the year this is happening, flu is more likely especially if you have not been vaccinated with flu vaccine this year. Often anti-flu medications can be helpful in reducing the severity and duration of the symptoms if taken within 48 hrs after onset of symptoms- for you this is too late. Get flu vaccine in the future ,
