A member asked:

Got a seborrheic dermatitis on my face .. the doctor prescribed itraconazole 100 mg capsules but im afraid to take them is there other safer treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fungus???: Oral itraconazole is for fungus infection, not for seborrheic dermatitis. Elocon [memetazone] should not be used for prolonged periods on the face. Get a smarter Dr, preferably a dermatologist. Wash with a zinc pyrithione [head & shoulders] shampoo but wash your face with it. Apply miconazole or clotrimazole or ketoconazole cream. Get a prescription for a calcineurin inhibitor such as pimecrolimus
