Lattissimus Sprain: It might be due to Lattissimus Dorsi muscle sprain. It is a large muscle that covers a good portion of the back up to the chest and insert itself in the bone of the arm You might feel the discomfort over the ribs or when you breathe when it is sprained At times even sudden trivial movement or sleeping in a wrong position might exacerbate the pain of the back

Sounds like: you may be having radicular (pinched nerves) symptoms . How high in your back is the pain...Is it MID BACK? (lower rib cage level)????? Were any xrays taken? Need more info...ask question again or join Health tap prime for extended "opinion" Hope this helps! Dr Z
