Herniated Disc: The ventral thecal sac is the front side of the thecal sac, which is a membrane that surrounds the spinal cord and some cerebrospinal fluid. A disk protrusion may cause the sac to deform in shape. This is due to a herniated disc. Neurologic symptoms may occur if the spinal cord is impinged upon.
