Pyelonephritis?: Some UTI bacteria are resistant to nitrofurantoin (Microbid). It sounds like your infection might not have been adequately treated and now has ascended to involve the kidney (pyelonephritis). Return to your doctor ASAP. Once successfully treated, speak with your doctor about whether you need evaluation of why you have frequent UTIs and how to prevent them. Good luck!
