Complex: formoterol, salmeterol and vilanterol, all are LABAs (long acting bronchodilators).The FDA several years ago issued a Black Box warning that these agents shouldn't be used alone for long term control of asthma, or acute asthma flares, and should be used in combination with ICS, once asthma is controlled they should be stopped. see an asthma specialist, check aaaai.org for an allergist in ur area

See below: So you should never take a long acting beta agonist by itself for asthma. That is what aformoteral and salmeterol are. Breo has an added steroid in it, which is the mainstay of asthma therapy. I would talk to your pulmonologist about it.
