More than enough: The CDC recommends that pregnant women take 400 micrograms per day of folic acid to give a 70% reduction in neural tube defects. They occur most commonly in the Irish ethnic population. You state that you are taking a prenatal vitamin. It probably contains the right amount of folic acid in it. Check the label and if it does then you can stop taking one of your pills!
