Traveling. sharp upper back and chest discomfort/pressure for 2 days. strained muscle or worse? risk of embolism??

Anything: Anything is possible. However if it was "embolism" (I.m assuming you are referring to pulmonary embolism) then likely you would have other symptoms such as shortness of breath. This sounds musculoskeletal type pain however no way to be sure without a proper medical evaluation.
