Eardrum issues: A hole in the eardrum is usually , in a child, due to an infection that caused the eardrum to "burst" which alleviates the pain and allows the pus behind the drum to drain. Children have "tubes" put in their ears surgically to do the same thing- i.e. allow drainage. the recovery time after surgery is minimal- its day surgery and they are fine
