If your chest is clear and you are not producing phlegm then it is unlikely there is significant illness. Try some steam inhalation before bedtime or taking an antihistamine. Your airways, upper/lower would become twitchy and cause the symptoms that you have, although your lungs would be clear on exam, but with other triggers as exercise, or reflux (on lying down) you can start having dry cough and wheeze. See your GP for control of reflux (? a PPI) and airways spasm (would need a broncho-dilator). You may need to see an allergist
