A member asked:

I have a small stye that has formed on my lower lid. can i use tobradex (along with warm compress) to heal quicker?

Not helpful: Very warm (not hot) compresses applied 5 times per day for 5 minutes each time is the best option. Tobradex cannot penetrate a stye as it is sealed off from the outside.

Better options exist: Often, Tobramycin is used as an a eye drop to help the process. The "dex" form is a steroid & should generally be reserved for situations involving local inflammation. Also, ointments should generally be avoided since they can further block the pores of the blocked glands which led to the problem in the first place! If symptoms are not improving then see your eye MD for more options available.
