A member asked:

Hi, i'm 18 years old and i have vitiligo. i have the focal type and it's been been stable for 8 months. can i go under melanocyte transplantation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Be careful: Vitiligo while cosmetically concerning, is a harmless condition. Melanocyte transplantation is not a recognized treatment and it may be suggested by some one trying to separate you from your money. I would recommend leaving it alone. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
