Not necessarily. Though some feel this travels in families there is no clear inheritance pattern. Many genes may be at play & more recent findings suggest it as an autoimmune disorder like rheumatoid arthritis among others. There may be groups that are more susceptible to whatever the triggering event is that brings on the symptoms.
