A member asked:

First time starting birth control, had protected sex with a condom the 4th day of starting it. could i still get pregnant? how effective is it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Should be okay: Many docs suggest you use a second form of contraceptive (condom) for the first month after you start the pill, to be sure your body has acclimated to the med. The med companies often state you are protected by their pill alone after 2 wks of use. I tend to recommend the month. It may be overkill but you won't regret being extra cautious.
