A member asked:

What is the best and fastesy to treat a adult incontinent type of rash. my 83 yr old father who just had bladder cancer surgery .

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Buttock rash: Rash that results from incontinence is usually due to irritants in the urine or stool. To prevent further irritation, diaper creams with zinc are occlusive and block the irritants from reaching the skin for the most part. If the rash is very red or raw, prescription antifungal or antibiotic creams may be needed. Urine or stool on his undergarments or pads need to be removed as soon as possible.
