Depends if fasting: Normal glucose is usually considered 60 or 80 - 100; however that is based on 8-12hr fast. Patients with fasting glucose >100<124 is considered hyperglycemic; while a fasting glucose 125+ is consistent with diabetes. Clinicians also utilize a HBA1C test which assesses your average glucose over a 3 mos period. A HBA1C >5.7-6.4 is consistent with prediabetes, and 6.5+ c/w diabetes.
