Had a short 3day period(normally 5)now on cd8 and got a positive opk. normally ovulate on cd21 of a 35day cycle. could i be ovulating this early?

Possibly: We can not always predict when one will ovulate during any one menstrual cycle. Ovulation predictor kits can be used to help determine the right day. Past history of menstrual cycles can be used to guide the most likely time with ovulation typically occuring 14 days before the next cycle.
