Spinal tap questions: This procedure is generally considered safe in an experienced doctor's hands. I would ask how many procedures they have done before. There is also the option sometimes of having interventional radiology do the procedure which might make it easier. There are always small risks with a procedure like that-since it is a very long needle entering a deep space (bleeding, risk of infection, nerve damage)
