More than once?: Amniotic fluid levels fluctuate - a one time measurement of an AFI of 3 in itself is not a reason for induction. The duration of a human pregnancy is 267 days from conception and can naturally fluctuate for as much as five weeks. In the absence of tools to determine the natural duration of a given pregnancy, it may be best to deliver at 40 weeks based on the last menstrual period.
