Plantar fasciitis: causes of heel pain: most likely plantar fasciitis, other causes: overuse or stress fracture or nerve compression in the region, other potentials include inflammation in the bursa (cushion) around the heel bone or rare diseases as arthritis or bone growth. for plantar fasciitis general recommendation is rest, icing, stretching exercises , pain medications, insole. medical review is required

Podiatry exam: plus x-rays and treatment for a calcaneal spur ( bone spur)- may require oral medication or a trigger point injection of the sore spot.

You need a diagnosis: first and foremost, an unperson exam, X-rays and clinical exam sounds like a good start.

Not so fast.: Heel pain can be cause by a whole lot of conditions, mainly centered around the idea of heel spur syndrome. You symptoms, as you report them, are just not precise enough for plantar fasciaiitis or even heel spur alone. I rec commend that you see a specialist and have a blood test to rule out possibilities such as gout and other inflammatory conditions.
