A member asked:

I have a sharp pain in the middle of my stomach between my bellybutton and my ribs i've had my gallbladder out what can this be ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can evaluate: Upper abdominal pain can be from "acid" pains, such as a stomach ulcer, just gastritis with no ulcer, or reflux (heartburn). An infection with H. pylori bacteria can lead to stomach ulcer pains (an acid blocker can help). One needs more evaluation by her primary care doctor. Heart attacks, rib and cartilage problems, pancreatitis, gallstones, or various cancers can also cause upper abdominal pain.
