Nerve pinched: by either the original injury or the splint. Did you have an x-ray? If so the treating physician can tell you which nerve may have been damaged initially. However, if the sensation just came on after splinting for awhile, it may be that the splint put pressure on the nerve. Now that it's off, you may regain normal sensation but it may take a few months. Some are using topical vitamin D cream.
