Can staring at a fluorescent lightbulb for a few minutes damage your eyes? i'd cover one eye and stare for 5 seconds then i would switch eyes. 2' away

Not a problem: The overall intensity of a fluorescent bulb is too low to cause any damage to the back of the eye. Hopefully you will find more productive use of your time.
