A member asked:

Is a popliteal lymph node biopsy performed under local or general anaesthesia? is it a straight cut or an s cut?

Either: A popliteal lymph node dissection is usually performed using local or regional anesthesia (nerve block) along with sedation. General anesthesia may be required depending on pathology or other medical issues.

Local. straight: Typically local, but may need general if deep- depends on size of mass. The incision is usually straight across back of knee, following skin folds, but depends on surgeon and mass size/location.

See below: Most likely this will be done under a general. The use of a regional will last too long, and a sedation will not provide adequate anesthesia. The incision is usually a straight cut.
