Visit ER: Unless it's a flu syndrome the family has passed to each other, I recommend taking him to the ER for evaluation and possibly IV fluids. In IL, there has been this recent shivering 24 hour flu going around, but best not to take any chances.

Could be serious...: If a young child truly has no strength and is shaking, one should call 911 for an ambulance if living in a city where there is rapid response from paramedics. A blanket can help keep the child warm in the meantime. Firemen may be the first to arrive, with oxygen, followed by the ambulance. If rural or the emergency medical service may take a while, one can still call 911 to see what the advice is.
