Non steroidals: A mild herniated disk in the neck can be relieved with non steroidal medications like Ibuprofen and physical therapy. If there is weakness or the sin persists i would get an MRI of the cervical spine. Steroids or infections might be needed or n some cases surgery.

Neck/arm pain: In the absence of weakness or loss of neurological findings, most episodes of neck and back pain resolve. Rest, limited range of motion exercises, heat/ice all can offer benefit. For persistent symptoms or weakness seek medical attention. Braces are temporary at best and run the risk of making the muscles brace dependent.
