If you're referring: to a carbonated soft drink, there could be a reason. Carbonated drinks contain Carbon Dioxide (CO2). When it's in the can, CO2 is dissolved in liquid. When you drink it, much of the CO2 becomes a gas that takes up more room in your stomach, it's like blowing up a balloon. When your stomach gets stretched (distended), some people experience pain, burping, fullness, reflux and/or nausea.
