Serous otitis: possibly the ear drums are not red but retracted and the child is unable to "pop" his ears.this gives discomfort and pain you need to give him a good decongestant.and take him in the shower so steam helps him to open his sinuses.if not better in a couple days take him to an ENT to check for sinus infection and serous otitis so he can be treated
