A member asked:

Is it normal for my perineal area to have a tightening pain from coughing extremely hard? only happens rarely

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Normal" is relative: If you're coughing hard enough, you may be squeezing rib, chest wall, abdominal & pelvic muscles. In your case, this is causing discomfort in the muscles of the lower part of your pelvis. While this sensation is "normal" under this circumstance, it's not "normal" to be coughing so hard. Please see a doctor about your cough. Dr. Anne
