Depends on severity: The length of time to recover from a stroke varies from a few hours (if the stroke reverses itself before the damage is permanent, we call it a transient ischemic attack, TIA) to a few months for mild motor weakness, to much longer for larger or more serious effects. People with significant weakness on one side may see very gradual continued improvement over many months to a few years.
