Removal may be best: The sonographic appearance of your ovarian cyst and some blood markers may help your Gyn surgeon estimate the risk of a benign vs. malignant ovarian tumor but unfortunately, only surgical removal of the cyst (ovarian cystectomy) will allow a definitive diagnosis. Since an ovarian cyst may on occasion complicate a pregnancy, it may be best to have it removed before you become pregnant.
