Unfortunately yes: Copper intrauterine devices are known for their side effect of excess bleeding. It may get better over time, but after two years, it's likely that this is the way it's going to be for the duration. If you are over 35, or if there's a chance you've contracted an STD, I'd suggest checking with your GYN to make sure nothing else is going on. Otherwise, I'm not concerned.
