Cystitis tips: Some women are more prone to cystitis, for various reasons. Women have a short urethra compared to males, so bacteria from perineal area can easily be pushed into the urethra during intercourse, setting up for a bladder infection. A few tips to try: increase water intake, limit sugar intake, and be sure to urinate within 15 minutes or so after intercourse. If still have problems, see doctor.

Symptoms of urethritis (burning on urination, frequency, urgency...) particularly after sex may mimic those of cystitis and resolve spontaneously.
