Stop Smoking: Please stop smoking. Smoking increases your risk of several types of cancers. Smoking also relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter(LES), which is the muscle between the esophagus and stomach that is supposed to keep the stomach acid from going into esophagus. When stomach acid gets in esophagus, it can cause heartburn symptoms. Please see your doctor for help quitting smoking.
