A member asked:

What causes an uncomfortable cold minty sensation in the chest especially after drinking carbonated or caffeinated beverages?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Multiple things may cause this type of sensation, but you are likely feeling some mild acid reflux. Carbonated beverages and caffeine are known to cause more stomach acid to rise up into the esophagus. Other considerations are lingering effects from the temperature of your drink, the sensation of the carbonation or an elevated heart rate (I would expect you to feel the latter).
