A member asked:

Is isordil (isosorbide dinitrate) for chest pressure contraindicated in patients with constrictive pericarditis?

Unusual med: Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate) is used to treat angina or systolic heart failure. Constriction does not usually cause chest pain and Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate) would not be useful to treat pain associated with pericarditis. The diagnosis needs to be further investigated.

Generally no: It is not considered to be contraindicated, neither is it considered a treatment. Why is it being considered?
