As its been 2yrs-: -it's most likely due 2 ligamentous laxity, especially if the injury caused a lot of swelling, & if bothered you for for some weeks after. Have it evaluated by a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon for hands on exam as well as imaging.

Only Pain?: Curious that the symptom described is pain. The appearance of swelling, stiffness and discoloration might add to the elements of the injury. Two years is a long time and if pain is your only symptom, you will need to have some images taken as well as a targeted physical examination.
