Yes : If a psychiatrist is licensed to practice medicine, they have the ability to order labs and imaging. It generally is standard of care to rule out medical causes for psychiatric symptoms, however some psychiatrist order more tests than others.

Yes... but: Psychiatrists can order lab work and imaging tests. However, if a medical problem is being evaluated, most psychiatrists will work in conjunction with the patient's pcp or specialist, eg, endocrinologist, neurologist, cardiologist for a more expert work-up. Hope this helps.
