You don't say: whether the bumps are fluid filled (vesicles) or not. If so, herpes simplex could be a cause; probably not herpes zoster (shingles) as you don't report pain...only itching. Most likely this is a contact dermatitis: the skin over your left hip came in contact with something (soap, creams, clothing) that caused inflammation. Try OTC topical cortisone cream. If worsens, to Dermatologist.

Possible Infection?: There are certain limitations imposed by this format which include the lack of a photograph of the skin lesions about which you requested information, So it's impossible to tell you the correct diagnosis and/or therapy, My Best advice would be to call and make an appointment with the dermatologist. There are many conditions which make bumps in the skin, especially some important ones.
