Why do some people get emotional/upset/grumpy (aka"hangry") when they are hungry? is there a scientific explanation for that?

Grumpy Hungry: Hi Jenni, here's a nice description of some of the physiological process involved: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/06/grumpy-hungry-angry-hunger-ask-healthy-living_n_3824775.html. Hope this is helpful. Take care

Yes: The long answer is complicated but the short is running low on fuel. Your engine is stalling, running rough, etc. Blood sugar levels directly impact the brain and those states you name are how it acts in response. It's very real and while some can 'control' what shows - it's still happening inside.
