Perio disease?: If your gums are red and inflamed it's usually due to some form of periodontal (gum) disease. It may relate to poor oral hygiene alone or may reflect some systemic involvement from medical issue, medications taken, hormones, etc. See a local Periodontist for a complete clinical and periodontal examination, x-rays and an evaluation.

Bleeding gums: There are 2 major causes for bleeding gums: 1) Gum disease, an inflammatory infection process, or 2) Systemic disease such as leukemia, hemophilia, diabetes, etc. In either case, treatment is required. Please start with a Periodontist, a gum/bone specialist. Additional referrals may be necessary. Note that gum bleeding during pregnancy is not normal, and treatment should have begun then.
