Infections ; hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do a home pregnancy test . There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Brown spotting: I would expect this vaginal discharge simply to be old blood and tissue from your recent menstrual period. If so, it should clear within a day or two. If not or if your next menstrual period is not perfectly normal, have a pelvic examination by your gynecologist.
