Consider...: The most painful nail abnormalities are blood under the nail from trauma, infection and a benign glomus tumor. These tumor are quite small and can be easily missed with a standard MRI of the hand. Many MRI sites are set up for larger body parts and not nail disorders. You may ask your Doctor for a re-evaluation and then a repeat MRI using a small hand coil, with and without contrast.
