Likely ok.: It is unlikely that you will have much problem from this. You may however get a little drowsy from the combination. No need to go to ER.

Go to.....?: You should not mix Xanax with sedating antihistamines like diphenhydramine (Benadryl) since taking them together increases the sedative effect. If your doctor OK's it, you could use a less sedating antihistamine such as loratadine (Claritin) or fexofenadine (Allegra) with Xanax. As with any habit-forming drug, you should use Xanax sparingly at the lowest effective dose. Dr. Anne
