A member asked:

Why is the inguinal hernia more common on the right than left?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Embryology.: Before men are born the testicles form in the abdomen and then move through a tunnel to the scrotum. That tunnel is supposed to close, but stays open resulting in hernia in some men or children. The right side testicle falls lasr & is often higher in the scrotum than the left side. Statistics notes from childhood right side inguinal hernias are most common, maybe its tunnel is last to close.
