Persistently Down: A down mood lasting months or even years most of the time with lack of enthusiasm, much enjoyment of previous activities, pessimistic outlook, less interest in socializing but still able to go through the necessary activities of everyday life albeit with much less energy and drive and not suicidal. Definitely calls for and usually responds to help with psychotherapy and likely medication.
